Pre Treatment Instructions for Cosmetic injections.

Use freezing cream for best results and to minimize pain:

  • Freezing cream is available at your local pharmacy (kept behind the counter) or can be purchased from our clinic at a competitive price. You may have to ask the pharmacist for the cream – the brand name is Emla, although some generic lidocaine creams may be available.
  • Wash face or the region thats to be treated prior to applying the cream.
  • Apply a thick coat (similar to a layer of peanut butter or cream cheese on a bagel) of the freezing cream to the area to be treated.
  • Do not try to rub the cream into the skin. Instead cover the thick cream with saran or plastic wrap. The cream should remain spongy underneath.
  • If the cream slides off or soaks in, re-apply more cream to that area and cover with plastic wrap.
  • Apply the cream at least 45-60min prior to the procedure.

Some Other Important Notes:

  • Do not use the freezing cream if you are allergic to freezing cream, lidocaine, local anesthetics, dental freezing, or any of the cream’s ingredients. Do note ever apply more than a full tube.
  • If you are on a complex medication regimen, make sure to confirm with your pharmacist that there are no drug interactions with the freezing cream.
  • Immediately remove freezing cream if you experience problems such as itching, redness, swelling of the tongue, lips or mouth. If these symptoms appear, go to the nearest emergency room, or call 911 as they could be signs of severe allergic reaction that could be life-threatening.
  • If you have concerns about the use of freezing cream, please contact your Health Care Practitioner (HCP) prior to using.

Advice - before a neuromodulator treatment

In order to minimize risk of bruising/bleeding it is best to avoid alcohol, Advil, aspirin or any other blood thinning medications before treatment. If you are unsure about a specific medication or whether it is safe to stop taking, be sure to check with our team who can advise you on how to proceed.

Advice - AFTER a neuromodulator treatment

Keep head upright for 3 hours after treatment (this can include bending forward or lying down).  Avoid, alcohol, Advil, aspirin & physical activity for the first 24 hours after injection. Do not rub the area for the first 24 hours.

Dr. Wright

Dr. Kelley Wright is a physician certified by the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario, who brings with her more than twenty years of diversified experience in Family medicine, care of the elderly and Medical Aesthetics. Dr. Wright graduated from the School of Medicine at McMaster University and then went on to specialize in care of the elderly.

Although not initially drawn to Medical Aesthetics, Kelley Wright came to empathize with the physical and emotional effects that the passage of time has on all of us. Most of her patients were women in their thirties or forties and fifties, like herself, who had raised their families and were looking for a new lease on life. The transition to Medical Aesthetics was a natural one for this mother of two adult children to make.

Kelley Wright has always embraced youth, as is demonstrated by her active lifestyle as a competitive body builder with the Canadian Physique Alliance.  Aging positively in all aspects of health, including aesthetics, is a passion for her, and she is excited to show her patients how cosmetic restoration of a youthful appearance can enhance their lives.
